Pancake Truffles & Button Ornaments

This morning I had great intentions of waking up making breakfast and heading to the gym. I woke up early, made breakfast... but didn't quite make it to the gym.

I'm giving myself a pass because breakfast was amazing.

I made Caitlin's Pancake Truffles... I really loved them they tasted like a bran muffin wrapped around a soft banana but they do come with a disclaimer since Mr. Arkansas was not a fan.

Me: Chewing, thinking yum.

Mr. Arkansas: Sets his fork down "some recipes don't work out babe"

Me:  What? I really like them.

Mr. Arkansas: I guess that's why they make chocolate and vanilla

Me: *Rolling my eyes* I think they are awesome.

Mr. Arkansas: Good because you have quite a few left over.

So I guess you guys try them I would love to hear what you think since. Of course I give my stamp of approval and Mr. Arkansas does not.

In other news...

This weekend I finally got to a project ten years in the making. Or heck maybe longer than that. You see when I was a child I can remember playing with my grandmothers button box. There were thousands, so many shapes, sizes and colors. I would craft all sorts of projects with them. Well when I grew up (sometime just before I was out of highschool) my grandma gave me a tin full of buttons.

She told me that she had taken all three button boxes (that belonged to my grandma, my greatgrandma and her sister) and combined them and she wanted me to have this portion of them. I know to some getting a button tin might not be that life changing but I was really excited.

Well folks I never could decide what to do with them. Because there was some sort of history to them (in my eyes) I wanted to be sure I kept whatever project I did with them.

So they sat for the past 10 years in that tin, until this weekend. I was thinking of all the extra foam ball I had and how I could make ornaments out of them. Then I started thinking of what I would cover them with.... I know BUTTONS!

Of course because of my neurosis when I don't know where to start I organize. So I started making one solid white.

Then after I had warmed up to them, I played with color :+)

I really like them. I am thinking of giving on to my mom & sister for Christmas. I think the story behind the buttons is really cool.

What projects did you work on this weekend?

  1. These are so pretty and a great use. You could leave them in a bowl or glass container after the holidays.

  7. Those are great! There have got to be a million uses for buttons and people just throw them out. Frustrates me to no end! Thanks for stopping by my blog. Now I'm off to look at more of yours!
