Recycled Baking Products and a Giveaway

I won't get all preachy on you or political but I would like to say that I am thankful that the man behind the deaths at our embassies in 1998, the bombing USS Cole in 2000 and the September 11th attacks in 2001 is dead. My heart goes out to all of those families effected by this awful terrorist. There are so many service men and women that gave their lives for his capture. If you know someone that served in the war on terror maybe give them a call today and say thanks.

Mr. Arkansas served in that marines during Operation Iraqi Freedom and was one of the first to leave following the 2001 attacks, thank you for being my hero.

An honest truth: It makes me smile to think the last thing Osama saw was an American Solidier holding a Gun... it had to be said.

I’m sure by now you know that Mr. Arkansas and I strive to do everything we can to be “green”. We recycle, we use rainwater to water our plants, use CFL lights throughout bungalow, etc. I honestly feel like every small step we take as individuals to protect this planet becomes huge when you realize the number of people striving to make a difference, call me a hippie if you must but it matters to me.

But ya’ll know how picky I am, not to mention the price needs to be right as well. So when I heard about If You Care, Environmental Friendly Products I was like a kid in an eco-friendly candy store! No joke, they have a huge variety of environmentally friendly kitchen and household products that rock!

Each of their fifteen + products are designed so nothing should remain after the product has been used and properly disposed of. The packaging of every product is made from unbleached and whenever possible, recycled cardboard or paper which can / should be recycled again. We were lucky enough to receive a nice size assortment of their products to test out in our kitchen and lets just say I’m impressed.

Their coffee filters, parchment paper, baking cups, waxed paper and sandwich bags are 100% biodegradable and can be composted right in our backyard.

They had me at Compost.

Our favorite product hands down would be their sandwich bags. You see Mr. Arkansas and I bring lunch to work every day – well 4 out of 5 for me anyway I’m forgetful. So when I saw “paper” sandwich bags in their collection I may have squealed a little.

Not only do they make me feel like I’m eating a gourmet sandwich from a fancy sandwich shop, they are also grease-proof so that makes having a morning breakfast croissant is no problem for these bags mmm. I love that they are not plastic or treated with petroleum based paraffin wax or any other wax. They’re ideal for snacks, cookies and so much more! And when I'm done I can compost them... have I mentioned that yet? :+)

Now for the Giveaway!

The kind folks over at If You Care have offered up my favorite products to you. One lucky reader will recieve: Their Paper Sandwich Bags, Baking Cups in all three sizes; Mini, Large and Jumbo (which you can use with or without a pan). As well as their parchment paper and recycled aluminum foil isn't that awesome? This set up should keep you well stocked in eco-friendly baking supplies for a while.

To enter just leave a comment below and for fun I'd love for you to tell me what your favorite recyled baking product you've used is and why.

The winner will be picked this Friday by Random.org.

PS: There's still time to enter the Enjoy Lighting Flameless Candle Giveaway!

  4. Oh, I'd love to use some of these products. When we moved to the country, we found out we had no recycling service available. We're in the process of getting bins to put things in so we can take them into town once a month.

I've not used recycled baking products, but I'd like to start!
